Why did you create BretonniaOrder.com

BretonniaOrder.com aims to provide a medium for cross-guild alliances and communication. Specifically a cross-guild Ventrilo server. We feel this is vital for the overall order effort.

This is somewhat an experiment, to see if we can create an enviroment that defeats the tendency (even that we have) of wanting to stick to your own tightly controlled Ventrilo server, and make others come to you. The hope is that we can create an enviroment that everyone can use for cross-guild events (taking keeps, etc).



our guild already has a vent server

This is different than using a random guilds ventrilo server, we will be giving the ability to maintain / support it (administrative privs) out other Order leaders, so it won't be a one guild show. The administrators will be listed on the administrators page on this site, and the guilds of these administrators will be listed as well. When you're on this server, you're on Orders server, not the server of Ordo Familia, Results May Vary, or Lunchbox Bandits.



do you want us to stop using our vent?

Absolutely not! This is to supplement your server, and make it so you don't have to always give out vent information when working with others. This is not a replacement, it is simply a commmon-ground for guilds to work together in. Our goal is simply to create a neutral middle-ground for all the order guilds.



why don't you just come on our vent?

Because it belongs to a single guild, it is not a happy place for multiple guilds to live. All the admins are from one guild, all the support is from one guild. If that guild falls apart, the server goes away. This server is neutral, all the major guilds on it will have admins on it, it will be grown to support as many guilds as needed, and has the explicit goal of being a place for guilds to co-exist. Should we ever be unable to maintain or support this site and server (we have a four year history of support of Ventrilo server with near 100% uptime via Typefrag), we will happily pass the torch to another guild (torch means existing ventrilo account and domain name).



Multiple Ventrilo's (Using yours and ours)

You can be on multiple vents, thanks to Redstar and Malacath for the tip. If you run ventrilo with the -m option (you can just make a shortcut with the -m flag in the target area) it will allow you to run Multiple Copies. Combine that with different push to talk hotkeys, and you can literally dual-vent. I know Redstar was doing three at one point, regularly.



Vent Normalization (equalize volume)

Having lots of new people on vent means that normalization is important. Here is how you setup ventrilo normalization.

  1. Go to Setup
  2. Enable Direct Sound
  3. Select the SFX Button
  4. Select Compressor and click Add.
  5. Under Compressor Properties use the following settings
  6. Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)
  7. Attack = 0.01
  8. Release = Around 500
  9. Threshold = Around -30
  10. Ratio = 100
  11. Pre delay = 4.0



How do I spread the word?

Feel free to create a Macro in game, to help spread our ventrilo information to other guilds and people who you want to get online, just let them know what warband is YOUR warband and invite them on.

To make the macro, simply hit escape, and choose "Macros" from the menu (it is on the bottom), and create a new one with this in it. "/wb Feel free to join the Order Ventrilo Server @ vent.BretonniaOrder.com, Port: 39284, Password: ordo"
